I was at the Nottingham Indiepop All-dayer on Saturday and had a great time. My friend, Gary Dufflecoat, kindly gave me a lift up there and once we parked had the pleasure of riding a Nottingham tram to and from the venue. There were some great bands playing and I was excited to see The Fireworks again after their barnstorming performance at Indie Pop Days Berlin. They played a fantastic set of songs and continue to get better and better with each gig. Another of my favourites, The Hobbes Fanclub, were playing and after doing the first song with no sound from the bass guitar, settled down to treat the crowd to a set of what now seem to me to be greatest hits. Highlights were, of course, "And Just Like That" and "Outside Myself". I really like it when you just accidentally stumble across a band who just blow you away with their pop tunes and fun vibes. This band were Martha and they were absolutely amazing. They had the tunes, the charisma, stage presence and I liked the girl in the band whose bass guitar was almost as big as her. I am hoping to post an interview with the band in the not too distant future. Also, it was nice to properly meet Ian and Pete from Horowitz, and Sam from A Layer Of Chips. Thanks for making me feel welcome, guys. Well done to the organisers for putting on such a fantastic day and hope to be back up in Nottingham soon. Horowitz were not playing Saturday but I remember telling Ian how much I like the song "Summer Promised Me Too Much" and, as I don't think it has been given the credit it deserves, will post the tune here to stream.
